Lake Erie supports drinking water, fisheries and recreation while receiving significant urban, industrial and agricultural stress. Small spills and improper waste disposal add avoidable contamination near marinas and shorelines.

Use pump-out facilities, prevent fuel overfill, contain maintenance debris, choose lawful cleaning practices and never discard fishing line or trash overboard.

Report significant spills or suspicious discharges to the appropriate authority. Marina rules and state or federal requirements may be stricter than a general checklist.
